The “Brain Cell Types, Circuits and Disorders” conference was held at the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences & Engineering on August 19-21, 2024 and was co-sponsored by the UC Irvine Center for Neural Circuit Mapping (CNCM) and the Cajal Club. This is the 4th annual in-person conference hosted by the UCI Center for Neural Circuit Mapping.

The conference hosted 204 formal registrants from 41 diverse academic institutions and 6 industrial organizations in the US and internationally, and 78 abstract submissions (including 25 invited talks, 7 special/selected short talks, 4 workshop lectures; 42 poster presentations) are accepted.

There was also a special symposium, “Biomedical Research and Education International Collaborations between Latin America and the University of California, Irvine” on UCI campus on 08/22/2024. The symposium highlighted the growing collaborations between biomedical researchers, including neuroscientists in Latin America and the University of California, Irvine. The conference attendees were welcome and encouraged to participate in this event.

The conference received institutional support including steadfast support from the UCI School of Medicine Dean Michael Stamos. Many people contributed to the planning and realization of this meeting. We thank the leadership of the CNCM and the Cajal Club, including Drs. Todd Holmes, Bing Ren, Leah Krubitzer, Patrick Hof, and Chuck Ribak, the staff of CNCM, Ginny Wu and Michelle Wu, and of the Beckman Center of the National Academies of Sciences and Engineering for their attention to detail and logistic support.
